In the heart of the Serengeti ecosystem, Enashiva covers a pristine remote African wilderness rich in wildlife but with poor resources and infrastructure for local Maasai villages. Thomson Safaris has been working side by side with the Maasai to help preserve the wilderness and empower communities. While the communities around Enashiva have begun to receive benefits from tourism, their needs remain innumerable and immense as they reside in one of the least developed and most neglected areas in Tanzania. As they continue with their traditional cattle-herding lifestyle, the Maasai are also eager for the benefits that come with education, healthcare, and women’s empowerment.
