Ekenywa is the personal project of Gebra Tilya, a retired Thomson Safaris
guide and his wife, Flora. They began an informal kindergarten to teach several of the local Maasai
children. As enrollment grew, Gebra and Flora even took several of the
children into their home to live with them. He retired from Thomson Safaris in 2007 to focus solely on Ekenywa. FoTZC began assisting Ekenywa in 2002, providing construction funds for classrooms. California High School in San Ramon, California has been particularly generous, contributing over $10,000 to FoTZC, as earmarked for construction projects at Ekenywa.
