Our mission is to collaborate with Tanzanian communities to overcome economic and social challenges through a working partnership that directs resources toward sustainable projects. Special focus is given to proposals that support education and women’s empowerment.
It all starts with the magnificent people of Tanzania. Our connections with Tanzanian communities run deep and go back decades. Communities have helped build the very foundation of our organization, and they help guide all of our projects in identifying their own priorities and in submitting proposals to FoTZC through community leaders. Projects often support schools, women’s groups, water initiatives, and other community efforts. Our Tanzania-based coordinators oversee projects, ensuring constant community involvement and that every donated dollar goes as far as possible.
The scope of these projects can be broad; our only requirements are that they are sustainable, community-driven and supported, and that they go toward fulfilling the United Nations’ Millennium Development Goals.
FoTZC also has a close relationship with Thomson Safaris, an award-winning travel company with a 30-year commitment to Tanzania. Donors often visit Tanzania with Thomson, making strong connections with local schools, villages, and communities. While we cannot expect to eliminate poverty in all of Tanzania, we partner with communities so that they can become empowered to overcome social and economic hardships.
