Kisangura Primary School

Kisangura is a Quaker-affiliated primary school in Mugumu, a central town west of the Serengeti, about 30 miles from Robanda Village. Kisangura came to our attention through a Boston-area Quaker who had contributed funds to help nourish orphaned children at the school. As a transit town for both tourism and commerce between Kenya and Tanzania, Mugumu has encountered numerous challenges, including a large population of children orphaned by HIV/AIDS. FoTZC also learned about how Kisangura had difficulty in attracting teachers because it lacked teachers’ housing and other basic amenities.
